Kryptra is an encrypted vault for iPhone and iPad. You draw a pattern; everything inside is sealed with AES-256-GCM under a key that is bound to your device's Secure Enclave and never leaves it.
A pattern, not a password
Your pattern is stretched with PBKDF2 and salted with a key the Secure Enclave will not release. A copy of your files taken off the phone cannot be attacked at any speed.
Separate vaults, no list
Every pattern opens its own vault. Kryptra never shows a list of vaults, and the file on disk is exactly the same size whether you keep one vault or six.
A camera that skips Photos
Shoot straight into the vault. Video is encrypted as it is recorded, so no plaintext file is ever written. Kryptra never asks for permission to write to your photo library.
Backup you can actually restore
Optional encrypted backup to your own iCloud. Files travel already sealed; a new device is unlocked by your nine-word recovery phrase.
What we do not claim
Security marketing usually promises more than the platform can deliver. Kryptra states the limits in the app itself, and here:
- Screenshots cannot be blocked on iOS. Kryptra detects screen recording and blurs its content; it cannot stop a screenshot.
- A duress erase cannot undo a copy already made. If someone imaged the device beforehand, erasing on the device does nothing about that copy, and it does not touch cloud backups.
- Padding hides how many items a vault holds, not how large a video is. The number of encrypted chunks reveals a file's size to within one chunk.
- Deniability has a boundary. It holds against forensic analysis of a device image and against the app's own interface. It does not hold against someone with your unlocked device who can run instrumented code against the Secure Enclave.
- Lose the phrase and the vault is gone. We hold no key and no copy. That is the point, and it is also the risk.
