Your photos, sealed on your phone.
Kryptra is an encrypted vault for iPhone. Files are encrypted locally with AES-256-GCM, and a device-bound key contributes to protecting vault access.
A pattern, not a password
Vault encryption combines your pattern with a device-bound key through the Secure Enclave. Copying encrypted files alone does not provide that device-bound key. This is not a guarantee of protection against every attack.
The index is sealed too
Not only the files: their names, their thumbnails and the list of what you keep are encrypted under separate keys, so the file on disk says nothing about what is inside it.
A camera that skips Photos
Shoot straight into the vault. Video is encrypted as it is recorded, so no plaintext file is ever written. Camera captures are not added to Photos. If you choose to remove the originals after importing from Photos, Kryptra asks for permission to change your photo library.
Recovery you hold yourself
Nine words, shown before your first file is ever added, let you reset a forgotten pattern for the existing vault on the device holding it. They do not back up or transfer your files to a new iPhone. We hold no vault key and no copy of your vault content.
What we do not claim
Security marketing usually promises more than the platform can deliver. Kryptra states the limits in the app itself, and here:
- Screenshots cannot be blocked on iOS. Kryptra detects screen recording and blurs its content; it cannot stop a screenshot.
- Erasing on the device cannot undo a copy already made. If someone imaged the phone beforehand, erasing here does nothing about that copy.
- Padding hides how many items the vault holds, not how large a video is. The number of encrypted chunks reveals a file's size to within one chunk.
- An open vault exposes its contents. The encryption protects a device at rest and a copy of its files. It does not protect you from someone holding your phone while the vault is open.
- Keep your recovery phrase safe. Losing it removes that recovery option, but a working pattern or enrolled biometric unlock may still give you access. We cannot recover your vault for you.
Free and Pro
The free tier includes 50 photo and other file imports combined, plus 10 video imports in total. Deleting content, erasing a vault or reinstalling on the same device does not reset the allowance. Kryptra Pro removes these limits and unlocks secondary and decoy vaults and alternate app icons, as a yearly subscription or a one-time purchase. Cloud backup is not included in the current version.
